1.5 Acre Fire Burns Brush Near Eaton-Blanche Park Sunday

A column of smoke rose into the clear sky visible for miles Sunday afternoon as the Pasadena Fire Department, backed by three other agencies, battled a 1.5-acre blaze in East Pasadena.

The call came in initially at 4:18 p.m. as a ‘fire in the wash’ near the 300 block of Oneida Drive but was quickly upgraded to a full brush fire response, according to city spokesperson Lisa Derderian.

First units on the scene saw brush burning on both sides of the wash, according to Derderian. Additional units were called in, with engines arriving from L.A. County, San Marino Fire and eventually Arcadia Fire as well.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped at 4:39 p.m., Derderian said.

She said no structures were damaged or injuries reported.
