All Saints Church Pasadena will host a training session on nonviolent protest and civil disobedience techniques on Sunday, April 27, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in the Learning Center.
The interfaith training will explore the religious, philosophical and historical underpinnings of nonviolent resistance while offering “concrete practices of direct action,” according to organizers.
“Now is the time to ground ourselves in why and how we resist systemic injustice and refresh our skills in the collective strategies and tactics that will help us for the long haul,” said a statement from All Saints Church. “Join us as we come together to be the change we want to see.”
The event is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles (EDLA) Sacred Resistance Task Force, Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE), and Nefesh, and hosted by the All Saints Church Peace & Justice Ministry.
The EDLA Sacred Resistance Task Force focuses on advocating for immigrant communities, particularly undocumented individuals facing deportation or discrimination. The group works to create spaces of understanding and solidarity within congregations and the broader community.
CLUE and Nefesh are Los Angeles-based organizations that collaborate on immigration and asylum initiatives. Their work centers on solidarity and advocacy for undocumented immigrants and asylum seekers, often organizing educational events and demonstrations to raise awareness about marginalized communities.
