Caltech Ranks 10th in Global University Rankings, MIT Retains Top Spot

California Institute of Technology secures top-10 position in QS World University Rankings 2025, highlighting its global excellence

The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) has secured the 10th position in the latest QS World University Rankings for 2025. This prestigious list, compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), evaluates over 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems worldwide.

Caltech’s top-10 placement underscores its global reputation for excellence in science and engineering. The Pasadena-based institution achieved an overall score of 90.9 in the QS assessment.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) maintains its reign at the top of the rankings for the 13th consecutive year. Imperial College London made a significant leap, climbing four places to claim the second spot.

The University of Oxford and Harvard University secured the third and fourth positions respectively, while the University of Cambridge rounded out the top five. Stanford University followed closely behind in sixth place.

The United States is the most represented country or territory, with 197 ranked institutions. The United Kingdom comes in second with 90 universities, followed by mainland China with 71.

The QS World University Rankings consider various factors in their evaluation process, including academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact. The comprehensive nature of the rankings provides valuable insights for prospective students and academic institutions alike.

Other notable institutions in the top 15 include ETH Zurich in Switzerland, the National University of Singapore, University College London, and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The University of Melbourne and Peking University also secured positions within this elite group.
