The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library (FOPPL) Bookstore has reopened at the Jefferson Elementary School campus, offering significant discounts to Altadena residents and educators. Located at 1500 East Villa Street between Hill and Allen, the bookstore features a diverse selection of used books, DVDs, CDs, LPs, and children’s books with all proceeds supporting local library programming.

“All the proceeds from our memberships and sales go to help supplement funding for Library programming, such as One City One Story Summer Reading, Women’s History Month, Black History Month, etc.,” said Adrienne Bass, FOPPL Bookstore Manager.

The bookstore is currently extending a 50% discount to all residents who lost their homes in the Eaton Wildfires along with a free book with any purchase. Teachers and schools looking to restock their libraries will receive deep discounts on children’s books and some donated materials.

“We have tons of new books and children’s books overflowing the shelves,” Bass said. “We will also give deep discounts and free books to schools and teachers who need to refill their libraries.”

The store operates Monday through Thursday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., remaining closed on Fridays and Sundays. In addition to its regular hours, the bookstore will host a special patio book sale on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. where customers can fill a grocery bag (which will be sold to them) for $5. Oversized coffee table books will also be available at the event.

Funds generated through the bookstore support programs across all ten Pasadena Library branches, including cultural heritage months such as Latino Heritage Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Month, Native American Heritage Month, and other literary initiatives.
