The HDR Foundation announced it has funded the implementation of the All Kids Bike Learn-to-Ride Program at Madison Elementary School in Pasadena, providing kindergarteners the opportunity to learn cycling skills during physical education classes. The program aims to teach children the life-changing skill of riding a bike through an inclusive, proven curriculum.

“By teaching kids to ride a bike in school, All Kids Bike gives thousands of children each year the opportunity to learn the life-changing skill of riding a bike,” the HDR Foundation reported.

The HDR Foundation has provided a grant of $324,000 to All Kids Bike for the 2024-25 school year. The funding covers teacher training and certification, complete learn-to-ride curriculum, a fleet of 24 Strider balance-to-pedal bikes, pedal conversion kits, student helmets, a teacher instruction bike, and rolling storage racks for elementary schools in communities where HDR employees live and work.

An unveiling ceremony will take place on March 28 at Madison Elementary School, according to HDR. The event will feature a presentation by Madison Elementary leadership and HDR Foundation representatives, followed by the reveal of the 24 balance-to-pedal conversion bikes and a first-ride opportunity for kindergarten students.

The HDR Foundation focuses its charitable giving on education, healthy communities, and environmental stewardship. This latest contribution brings the Foundation’s total support of the All Kids Bike Program to over $800,000.

Launched in 2018, the All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program now operates in over 1,600 schools across all 50 states. The comprehensive program reaches more than 160,000 children annually and has impacted over 1 million kids throughout the 10-year lifespan of established programs.

The program includes a proven eight-lesson curriculum with lesson plans, games and activities. Students receive fully adjustable helmets, and schools get access to a resource portal with live support for the life of the program.
