The Huntington Health community is celebrating the achievements of its Graduate Medical Education Class of 2023, expressing gratitude for their dedication to patient care, according to a recent Facebook post from the hospital.
A celebratory event at the Langham Huntington Pasadena marked the graduation of Huntington Health medical and surgical residents and the advancement of first-year preliminary residents into specialized training programs.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the annual resident research competition. The first-place award was claimed by Dr. Allison McCurdy, a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, who is entering her fourth year of surgical residency at Huntington Health.
The event also featured a gift presentation, where the fourth-year residents bestowed prints of the graduating chiefs in action to their peers. This gesture solidified the sense of camaraderie within the resident family.
Dr. Zarmeen Zaheer, who graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, was pictured alongside the Program Director, Dr. Stratos Christianakis. Dr. Zaheer was one of the graduating residents, signifying the end of her training period at Huntington Health.
The hospital also took a moment to acknowledge the change in leadership roles within the resident community. She was pictured with Dr. Harris Nickowitz, who graduated from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology’s Faculty of Medicine and is set to be the incoming Chief Resident.
Lastly, the Clinical Excellence Award was bestowed upon Dr. Ivan Leroux, a graduate of Meharry Medical College, in recognition of his outstanding performance in clinical practice.
The award marked the culmination of the ceremony, celebrating the hard work and dedication of the medical and surgical residents at Huntington Health.
