Dia DuVernet has resigned as President and Chief Executive Officer of Pasadena Humane after a five-year tenure marked by significant program expansion and emergency response initiatives. The organization made significant strides in advancing its mission, expanding programs, and enhancing care to the communities it serves.
DuVernet’s term was characterized by several major organizational developments, including the establishment of the Animal Resource Center and the opening of the Sandra J. Goodspeed Wildlife Center. She also oversaw the growth of the Helping Paws program, which includes the Pet Food Pantry.
Under her leadership, Pasadena Humane successfully navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, implementing significant operational changes to keep staff and animals safe. In early 2025, during the Eaton Fire, DuVernet spearheaded efforts to provide shelter and medical care to over 1,000 displaced animals, while also facilitating the coordination of fire-trained search and rescue teams from across the state to assist in recovery efforts.
The Board has appointed Vice President and Chief Programs Officer Chris Ramon, who has served at Pasadena Humane since 2018, as its interim CEO, and has engaged with an executive search firm.
The organization said in a statement that day-to-day operations will continue as usual.
“Pasadena Humane remains steadfast in its focus on delivering compassionate care to the animals and people who rely on us during this critical time in our community,” the statement said.
