Pasadena Humane has issued an urgent call for dog adoptions and foster homes through a Facebook post. The shelter’s kennels are nearing full capacity, with over 100 dogs currently in their care.
To address the overcrowding issue, Pasadena Humane has waived adoption fees for all dogs six months of age and older through October 12. This move aims to encourage potential adopters to provide permanent homes for these animals.
“We are urgently in need of dog fosters, especially those who can take in some of our more active large dogs and who do not have any other pets,” Pasadena Humane stated in their Facebook post.
The shelter is particularly seeking foster homes for more active large dogs and those that can be placed in homes without other pets. Fostering provides a loving, temporary home while opening up kennel space for animals in need of immediate care.
In addition to fostering, the shelter is organizing several pop-up adoption events to increase visibility for their dogs. These events are scheduled at various locations, including Sierra Subaru of Monrovia on October 19, and Altadena Golf Course on October 26.
Pasadena Humane, established in 1903, has a long history of serving animals in the Greater Los Angeles Area. In 2023, the organization assisted over 47,000 animals through various services.
The shelter offers alternative ways for community members to help, such as participating in short-term fostering programs like “Foster Sleepover” or “Foster Field Trip.” Volunteers can also join programs like “Reading Rover,” where they read to shelter animals.
