The City of Pasadena’s second annual Rental Registry opened Monday, Sept. 1, requiring all residential rental properties to be registered by Oct. 31 to avoid late fees. The program, administered by the Rent Stabilization Department, mandates that landlords complete registration and submit payment to remain in compliance.
The 2025 registration fee is $238 per unit. A grace period with no late penalties extends through Thursday, Nov. 7. Beginning Friday, Nov. 8, late fees will be assessed based on the number of days payment remains outstanding:
To register, landlords must log into Pasadena’s Rental Registry portal and complete the following steps:
- Review Property and Unit Information: Log in to the Rental Registry portal and confirm your ownership details, contact information, and unit data is accurate.
- Have Your Information Ready: Be prepared with rent amounts, tenancy start dates, and exemption documentation (if applicable).
- Submit Registration: Ensure all updates are entered correctly in the Rental Registry portal before the deadline.
- Pay the Rental Registry Fee: Registration is not complete until payment has been submitted. This year’s registration fee is $238.00 per unit.
Landlords claiming exemptions must upload supporting documentation during the registration process. Registration is not considered complete until payment is submitted.
City staff are available to assist landlords throughout the process.. Appointments with the Rental Registration team can be scheduled directly through the Rental Registry website.
