David M. Reyes, general manager of Water and Power, announced that Pasadena Water and Power will implement new electric vehicle charging rates at all City-owned Power Up Pasadena stations beginning Nov. 12, in accordance with the Fiscal Year 2026 General Fee Schedule adopted by the City Council.
The updated rates will be $0.25 per kilowatt-hour during off-peak hours and $0.30 per kilowatt-hour during peak hours, defined as 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. These adjustments reflect current market conditions and rising operational costs. All other electric vehicle charging fees listed in the General Fee Schedule will remain unchanged.
The revised rates apply only to City-owned Power Up Pasadena charging stations. For more information about Pasadena Water and Power’s electric vehicle programs—including a map of charging stations, maintenance updates, and available incentives—visit PWPweb.com/EV..
Pasadena Water and Power is also conducting a comprehensive electric rate study, expected to conclude in early 2026. The study evaluates the cost of producing and delivering electricity to homes, businesses, and organizations in Pasadena. It will help set prices for different customer types based on usage patterns, ensuring the utility can cover costs, maintain infrastructure, and plan for future needs while keeping rates fair and steady.
Community members will be invited to participate in forums and workshops to provide feedback. This collaborative process will help shape final rate recommendations to the City Council.
