Formerly the Chief Advancement Officer at Harmony Project, a leading Los Angeles-based nonprofit fostering youth development through music education, Barrera showcased exemplary leadership, overseeing the Advancement and Partnership Departments. Her visionary outlook resulted in significant achievements for the organization.
Combining her nonprofit understanding with aquatic credentials as a certified lifeguard, CPR/WSI trainer, and community pool manager, Barrera is ready to elevate RBAC’s growth and influence within the community.
“Maya’s extraordinary accomplishments as a non-profit leader and her dedication to community benefit make her the ideal fit for the Chief Development and Communications Officer role at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center,” affirmed Jimmy Francis, President and Executive Director of RBAC. “Her commitment to our mission, along with her proven leadership and fundraising skills, will move our organization towards new opportunities in support of the community.”
Having personally experienced RBAC’s offerings – from Parent/Infant swimming sessions with her children to utilizing the therapy pool for her father’s post-knee surgery recovery – Barrera intimately comprehends RBAC’s positive footprint on the community.
“I wholeheartedly believe in RBAC’s transformative influence and community-focused potential,” Barrera emphasized. “I’m truly honored to join this remarkable institution and eagerly anticipate contributing to its vision, expansion, and sustainability,” said Barrera.
RBAC welcomes Barrera to its leadership team, confident that her skillset will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission and be instrumental in securing funding to meet changing community needs and ensure long-term organizational sustainability.
