Shots Fired Near Memorial Park; Five Pasadena Men Identified as Victims, No Injuries Reported

A shooting incident occurred Thursday afternoon near Memorial Park, where a suspect fired multiple rounds toward a group of individuals loitering in a nearby parking lot, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau.

The gunfire was reported at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 4. Campeau stated the shots were fired from the north side of Memorial Park across the street toward a group of five men on the north side of Walnut Street. All five men who are the victims—range in age from 18 to 25 and are Pasadena residents.

Officers responded after receiving several calls reporting shots fired and observed multiple individuals fleeing the area. Several subjects were detained and later identified as the victims. Witnesses told police that a tall, skinny man wearing a beige sweatsuit had fired the shots. The weapon used was described as a 9mm handgun.

Shell casings were recovered at the scene, but the exact number of rounds fired remains unknown, according to Campeau.

Campeau added that SoundThinking did not register the incident and no surveillance footage has been located as of Friday morning.

No one was injured and no vehicles were reported damaged, and no strike marks were found Campeau said .
