Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition has organized two distinct group journeys to Altadena’s Christmas Tree Lane celebration on Saturday, Dec. 7, offering both transit and cycling options.
The transit group will gather at 6:15 p.m. at Lake Avenue and Del Mar Boulevard in Pasadena, boarding Metro Bus 662 at 6:22 p.m. for a guided evening excursion.
Organizers will provide TAP cards with round-trip fare for those without them, ensuring participants can return together on the 8:05 p.m. bus, arriving back by 8:20 p.m.
Meanwhile, cycling enthusiasts will meet at 5 p.m. at Pasadena’s Memorial Park on Raymond Avenue between Walnut and Holly, departing at 5:30 p.m. for the festival.
The four-hour bike excursion covers an 11-mile round trip with 600 feet of elevation gain, featuring what organizers describe as a relatively gentle, steady climb.
Organizers said the bicycle journey is not recommended for riders under 12 or anyone new to cycling, citing one particularly steep section.
Bicycle participants must sign waivers and carry proper lighting, with helmets required for those under 18, while festive holiday decorations and attire are encouraged.
Both groups will converge at the 104th Anniversary Lighting Ceremony and Winter Festival, where Altadena’s Christmas Tree Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic and visitors can explore the historic site freely.
The cycling group has arranged for volunteers to watch parked bicycles so that participants can enjoy the festival’s array of food, drinks, and craft vendors on foot.
