Los Angeles County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined over the month to 6% in January from a revised 6.1% in December 2024, according to figures released Friday by the state Employment Development Department.
The 6% rate was above the rate of 5.4% in January 2024.
Statewide, California’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.4% in January, down from 5.5% in December and up from 5.1% in January 2024. The comparable estimates for the nation were 4% in January, 4.1% in December and 3.7% a year ago.
Total non-farm employment in Los Angeles County decreased by 99,500 jobs between December and January to reach nearly 4.55 million.
The trade, transportation and utilities sector showed month-over losses of 24,100 jobs.
