Heat Wave Looms After Pleasant July 4th Weather in Pasadena

Temperatures expected to soar to triple digits next week following comfortable holiday weekend

Pasadena residents will enjoy ideal conditions for Independence Day celebrations before a potentially dangerous heat wave arrives next week, with temperatures possibly reaching 100 to 105 degrees, National Weather Service forecasters said Wednesday.

The city will experience comfortable temperatures through the holiday weekend, with highs remaining three to six degrees below normal before a significant warming trend begins early next week. Wednesday’s high will reach 81 degrees, with Friday’s July 4th forecast calling for 84 degrees.

Current conditions feature typical early July weather with patchy morning fog clearing by 11 a.m. Light southwest winds of five to 10 mph are providing relief as temperatures hover in the low 80s.

Temperature trends show steady warming throughout the forecast period. Highs will climb incrementally each day, reaching 86 degrees Saturday, 87 degrees Sunday, 88 degrees Monday and 91 degrees Tuesday.

Forecasters are monitoring a potential significant heat wave developing for the middle of next week. Temperatures could surge 15 to 20 degrees above current levels.

The weekend outlook appears excellent for outdoor activities, with Saturday and Sunday featuring mostly sunny skies after morning fog clears. High temperatures in the comfortable mid-80s range will make conditions ideal for hiking or enjoying local parks.

No significant precipitation is expected during the forecast period. Morning fog will continue developing after 11 p.m. each night and dissipating by late morning.

Wind conditions will remain generally light, with southwest breezes of five to 10 mph during afternoon hours. The onshore flow pattern will help moderate temperatures through the weekend before weakening early next week.

Pasadena’s foothill location means residents may experience slightly warmer conditions than coastal areas while remaining cooler than interior valleys. The city’s elevation typically provides two to three degrees of cooling compared to downtown Los Angeles.

While no weather advisories are currently in effect, the extended forecast shows increasing confidence in a major pattern change beginning Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Monsoon moisture may push into the region, increasing humidity levels and creating more oppressive conditions.
