Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) teachers and principals will receive a substantial boost in the form of $223,000 in grants for the 2023-2024 school year, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF), College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation, and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association.
The grants will be presented during this year’s PEF Teacher Grants Celebration & Parade on Tuesday, Dec. 5, starting at 3:30 p.m. in front of PUSD’s Education Center at 351 South Hudson Ave.
PEF Teacher Grant awardees, representatives from various organizations, teachers, parents, and students are expected to attend.
The annual grants, benefiting thousands of students in the public schools of Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre, serve as a testament to the ongoing commitment of these organizations to support educational initiatives in the region.
This year, a total of 222 educators will be receiving awards, representing 150 unique proposals from every school in the district. The grants extend beyond individual teachers to include 15 School-wide Project Grants.
Notable special awards include the Jarratt Brunson Memorial Award for Literacy, honoring one of PEF’s founders responsible for initiating the Teacher Grant Program; the Kathy Onoye Principal’s Leadership Award, in honor of the former PUSD Executive Director of Elementary Education; and the Calvin Hunt Arts Award, promoting and supporting dedicated teachers enhancing arts education in PUSD.
Pasadena Educational Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for public education, engaging the community, and developing resources to support excellence and equity for all Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) students.
Through various programs spanning arts, music, health centers, gardens, and STEM, PEF is committed to shaping a brighter future for public school students in Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre.
