An estimated three thousand runners welcomed 2025 along Colorado Boulevard in the Lululemon Run With the Roses 5K, which began at 11:59:59 p.m. on December 31 outside the retailer’s store at 101 W. Colorado Blvd.
The race followed the iconic Tournament of Roses Parade route on a flat, fast 3.1-mile out-and-back course. Each runner’s $29 entry fee included a $10 contribution distributed to youth and women’s sports organizations.
Spectators lined the parade route as participants wearing LED bracelets synchronized to music made their way through the course.
Within 15 minutes of finishing, runners received unofficial results via email.
Finishers collected medals, cookies, protein bars, boxed water, Nuun hydration drinks and access to recovery services provided by Myodetox, including leg compression therapy. Those over 21 received celebratory sparkling beverages.
The event benefited two charities: the Fostering Dreams Project, which transforms youth lives in underserved communities through dance and performing arts, and the Women’s Sports Foundation, promoting women’s participation in sports.
Organizers hosted pre-race activities from December 28-31, including yoga sessions and course tours. A pop-up shop at 132 W Colorado Blvd offered exclusive Lululemon Tournament of Roses merchandise.
The event faced several logistical challenges. Runners encountered limited heating in the post-race area during cold 1 a.m. temperatures, restricted bathroom facilities, and parking difficulties due to parade float preparations. The absence of a 6:00/mile pace corral created congestion for faster runners.
Beyond promoting health and wellness, the annual event has become integral to Pasadena’s New Year’s celebrations, driving tourism and boosting local business activity while showcasing city landmarks.
Official race results were pending at the time of this reporting.
